Religijna melancholia

The Anatomy of Melancholy is a 1621 work by Robert Burton. Initially released under the pseudonym Democritus Junior, it covers not only depression but also various topics including history, astronomy, geography, and literature. The work is broken down into sections with the aim to discuss different aspects of melancholy – its kinds, causes, symptoms, prognoses, and cures. Burton often used humor in his writing while incorporating philosophical, medical, and historical elements to provide a broad perspective on the subject. The book was hugely popular in the 17th century, with multiple editions published over time. It became an influential piece in mental health studies until today, inspiring numerous authors as well as poets such as John Keats, who named "The Anatomy of Melancholy" his favorite book.
